The Name of Jesus - Lesson 3

“In my Name they will cast our Demons”

Mk 16:17 signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons

1. We Must Understand He is Defeated

Col 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them

●  Disarmed - Exposed, shattered, empty and defeated in his own triumphant victory

Heb 2:1 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

Col 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

●  The conquest that Jesus made of the devil, sin, sickness and disease is wrapped up in the name of Jesus.

●  When we use the name of Jesus it brings us into Satan’s defeat that Jesus already accomplished, as far as God is concerned these demons are totally dethroned

1 Cor (Moffatt) we do not discuss ‘wisdom’ with those who are mature; only it is not the wisdom of this world or the dethroned powers who rule this world.

2. We Have Been Authorized to Bring Freedom From Demonic Bondage

Matt 28:18-19 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations

Mk 16:17 signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons

●  These signs shall follow you - everywhere you go Freedom should always follow

Acts 16:18 But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.

●  So many times we try dealing with a person not realizing a spirit is driving them

●  While making disciples we must learn to pray this off those we are working with

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

●  Prayer doesn’t change God, we don’t have to wrestle, or strive or struggle with God

●  Laboring – striving, to wrestle, to struggle, to combat, for the church in prayer

Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

●  Why is prayer so vital - Clearing out and shifting atmospheres in the name of Jesus

Js 5:16 pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (makes great power available)
